Week of 2/19 - 2/22
We had a short week and unfortunately we don't have too many pictures to share but here is a quick update.
Our reading skills are really improving and we have begun to set aside time to read independently.
As time goes on we will learn how to choose just right books (Books that are at a child's independent reading level so they will read instead of just looking at the pictures.)
We've also started an Easter craft for math. We want to have our room decorated before the holiday is here and since Easter is coming early we need to get started.
We will share some completed projects next week. Also speaking of Easter we will have an Easter egg hunt and party on the 21st which is a 1 PM dismissal.

Valentine's Day
Yesterday we decorated personal mailboxes for our valentines.
Many children brought in thoughtful and adorable valentines for their friends.
Here we are posing with our boxes waiting to see what treats were inside.
We also graphed a little bag of candy hearts.
We got to practice sorting, graphing, and comparing numbers plus we enjoyed a yummy treat.
Also using our bonus points from Scholastic we were able to treat each child to their very own book as a present. In this picture you call also see our silly valentine headbands.

Week in Review 2/4 - 2/8
We have a fantastic fresh fruit program at our school where a couple of times a month students are given some fresh fruit as an afternoon snack. They are always so happy when we get the call from the cafeteria. Here Ms. Rosa passes out the fruit and Kaden enjoys a clementine.
All week we've been reading the Pigeon Books by Mo Willems. The kids love them and can read or have memorized much of the stories. We are studying Mo Willems and his books are not only funny but easy to read. They would be great books to pick up at the library or through our scholastic book club.
Below Jhanii is reading Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late to ZyQuan.
We also talked about February's life skill of responsibility. We talked about how responsibility means doing the right thing even when no one is looking or checking and we all wrote about a way that we have been responsible. Latasha wrote that she was responsible when she helped take care of the babies.

Week in Review 1/28 - 2/1
We celebrated the 100th day of school.
We wrote letters to the American military. This is part of our social studies unit about citizenship and community service. What can we do to make other people feel good? Write to them, keep our environment clean, perform for them, etc
ZyQuan was our latest star student.
We practiced addition by hopping on big numbers.
